Wear Purple for Spirit Day – October 20th

spiritday600x100-01

This Thursday, October 20th, 2011 marks the one-year anniversary of Spirit Day – a day when millions of Americans wear purple to show their support for LGBT youth and to speak out against bullying. Spirit Day was started last year by teenager Brittany McMillan as a response to teens who had taken their own lives. It is a day of solidarity, to show others that they are not alone, that we stand by them and support them.

In honor of Spirit Day and in commemoration of the lives of LGBT suicide victims, we are asking everyone at the Fashion School to wear purple this Thursday, October 20th. Be sure to RSVP on Facebook and send in photos of you and your friends wearing purple and we will post them to the blog. You can send all photos to fashionschooldaily@gmail.com.

If you need to talk to someone, please reach out – to anyone. We are all here to help.
