This Monday we are switching things up just a bit – hope you don’t mind. Instead of photos we are giving you a video – a little film from the 1930s in which designers predicted what fashion in the year 2000 would look like – and we just had to share it with you. We know that it’s a little past the millennium mark but lets see how the predictions hold up!
Well, the actual designs may be a little farfetched, but the general concepts?? Maybe not so bad…

The predictions from designers in the 1930s. And the true styles of the modern age.
- A dress that can be adapted for morning, afternoon or evening. Why, they must talking about a simple sheath dress! A quick change of accessories allows this dress to be appropriate for any time of day.
- Dresses made of transparent net – to catch the males of course. They are so on point with the sheer trend that has rocked the runways the past few seasons!
- The disappearance of skirts. While they may not have disappeared completely, in this century ladies do have many more options. Pants, shorts, denim, leggings, jeggings – Oh my! And of course the ubiquitous jumpsuit, the ease of a dress with the comfort of pants – modern designing at its finest.
- An atmosphere that scientifically maintains the correct temperature. Well, this one may not have come true quite yet – unless you’re Bill Gates that is.
- A dress made of aluminum with an electric headlight to match. This one clinches it – they predicted the outrageous stylings of Lady Gaga!
- Men will wear utility belts with a telephone, radio, and a container for coins, keys and candy for cuties. I certainly haven’t found this man yet (unless you count Inspector Gadget), have you? He sounds fabulous though! A telephone for quick calls, a radio to keep you dancing all night long, and sugary sweets – what more could a girl ask for?
