Two semesters, 23 students and one big show: Amid design sketches and the whir of sewing machines, fashion design students at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University School of Fashion prepare garments that will be shown during the school’s highly anticipated annual Graduation Fashion Show. Award-winning students from Hawaii, China, Mississippi and beyond share the hard work and sources of inspiration that culminate in their collections. “Creativity is not what you search and look for,” says BFA Knitwear Design student Cana Klebanoff. “It just comes to you when you least expect it.”
