FSH 478: Local Editors Peruse Styling Portfolios

Local editors Anastasia Hendrix, features editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, and Ryan Chua, editor-in-chief of ASTONISH Magazine, paid a visit to the fashion school last week. They met with students in Flore Morton’s FSH 478: Editorial Styling class, to review portfolios and offer advice to those who are graduating.

Hendrix discussed the ever expanding features section in the Chronicle – SFis Style – the Bay Area’s weekly guide to fashion, home décor, parties and more. She spoke to students about editorials produced by the newspaper, stressing the need for items to be shoppable – extra points if they can be bought in SF! Chua shared his own story with students, pointing out the necessity for passion in anything that you do. That has definitely been a theme at the School of Fashion this semester (Jean Paul Gaultier said much the same thing during his visit)!
