A few weeks ago, we shared the awesome news that former School of Fashion student, Danny Roberts, had been commissioned to paint a mural for Tiffany & Co. – and it’s now complete! Roberts was asked to decorate the NYC storefront as part of Tiffany’s Soho art series, for which they have asked notable artists to stage large scale works on the outer facade as the store undergoes construction.
Roberts was charged with creating an image that portrayed the theme of love – and we love what he came up with. The 15′ x 34′ mural depicts a group of exquisitely clad ladies and gents at a very luxe party, with one couple in the midst of a kiss. The stolen moment is sweet but subtle, a perfect representation of amour.
Due to the large scale of the project and time constraints (he only had three days), Roberts began work on the painting at home. They were able to transfer the artwork to a print and install it on the storefront. Roberts then painted over the print, adding in metallic gold embroideries, subtle details, and a healthy dose of Tiffany’s signature robin’s egg blue. The end result is absolutely stunning – bravo Danny!
