lutz huelle paris fashion week

Paris Fashion Week FW19 Journal, pt1.

Ernest Hemingway once said: “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then whenever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.” If we want to paraphrase the wise words of the most well-traveled American author, if you are lucky enough to have presented your collection AT Paris Fashion Week as a designer, then you have managed to get into the Pantheon of the most well-respected fashion designers of the world.

It’s no secret that fashion was born in Paris. Many young designers dream of living, creating and presenting their collection here, in the Mecca of the fashion world. Brianna Toomer, Felix Ryan, Lusha Wang, and Paula Miranda Do Amaral are four students of the Academy of Art University Fashion School who had always wanted to live their dream in Paris, and recently became part of this mesmerizing world through the French Exchange program with the Paris-based schools Ecole de la Chamber Syndicale and Studio Bercot. Stay tuned for interviews with them in our next installments!

On this cloudy Friday afternoon, designers Andrew GN and Lutz Huelle charged the day with their powerful, brightly colored, dramatic, and well-constructed collections. Andrew GN loves to mix multicultural influences and reflect them in his unique collections. Zebra jacquard, leopard and python lace, 3D applique, and the Meiji Chrysanthemum Seal print were some of the components of his FW19 collection.

Lutz Huelle, the newly appointed creative director of Delpozo, is well-known for mixing and matching controversial types of garments and genres. Through his last collection, titled The Voyageuse, he wanted to share his thoughts traveling while dressing up. Would you ever wear a bright pink lantern sleeve jacket, or a deconstructed, oversized biker jacket and wool coat on, a long plane ride? What about a pink bubble coat for a trip to your nearest supermarket?

With all the respect to the collections though, what is most impressive during Paris Fashion Week is the street style. The real fashion flourishes in the streets of Paris and Les Parisiens are masters in creating trends that are a true inspiration to the rest of the world. No wonder anyone who visits Paris wants to become part of this fashionable ‘movable feast’.
