The future of fashion from a 1930s perspective

I love vintage news reels. There’s something so enjoyably nostalgic about them that makes me smile. I found this one on YouTube that made me smirk more than smile. It’s a film from the ’30s that predicted how fashion was going to be in the year 2000:

I love how they refer to it as “A.D. 2,000.”

Nonetheless, they weren’t too far off: transparent knits, disappearance of skirts and efficient day-to-evening apparel. I especially like how the man’s outfit was equipped with a phone and multiple “containers” (which would probably be pockets) for “coins, keys and candies for cuties.”

Ummm. I don’t know about that “candies for cuties” bit, but the rest is pretty spot-on.

What are your thoughts?
