Fashion Group International San Francisco is hosting a special event tonight, April 28 called “The Height of Luxury: The Rise of Art Deco and Haute Couture” at the San Francisco Design Center (Showplace Building, Suite 233, Two Henry Adams). Former Executive Director of the Washington Design Center, Jim Caughman will be speaking at the event. Here is the full description of what you can expect:
This is a story of creative development in Paris in the first 3 decades of the 20th century. Art Deco and Haute Couture developed and flourished during these critical years. Legacies that still resonate strongly today. In addition to prominent artists and writers, the lecture will feature the life and work of great designers (Frank, Arbus, Ruhlmann) and couturiers (Schiaparelli, Vionnet, Lanvin, Chanel, Mainboucher) and illustrate how their work intersected and inspired one another.
