No matter your personal identity I think we all unanimously agree that skincare is vital. In the fashion world, almost no brand gets as much consistent hype as La Mer.
The illustrious “miracle broth” allegedly invented by NASA scientist Dr. Max Huber to cure scars received on accident, concocted using seaweed in unconventional methods which include playing music, sounds of the ocean, and pulsing lights. Though there are serious doubts any part of the story is real, NASA has never pressed charges against the parent company Estée Lauder and if the reviews on any of their products are accurate then their miraculous creme is anything, but fake.
After spending shameful amounts of money on clay masks in the past and being equally disappointed across the board from designer cremes to drug store products, I finally broke down and purchased La Mer’s Refining Facial. One of the cheapest products they offer, though, a 3.4 oz tube will still cost you $90.
This mask fits nicely at the end of any skincare routine, needing a moist, freshly washed face to work. The back of the tube advises you to apply the grey-green creme in “circular upward motions” which seems to mean a different thing to almost everyone I ask; so if you find a motion that works best for you, let me know! After that it’s just a simple matter of time waiting for the creme to dry out and do its thing before being rinsed off with water.
