The Textile Arts Council presents Palestine-American artist and teacher Joy Totah Hilden. Saudi Arabia’s steady movement away from traditional tribal nomadism toward modern urbanization has forced changes in the creation and use of its vibrant native textiles. Ms. Hilden will explain the structure and uses of these pieces, demonstrate Bedouin spinning technique and display vivid examples from her collection.

The event will take place at Koret Auditorium in the de Young Museum located at 50 Hagiwara Tea Garden Drive. Tickets are free for TAC members, $5 museum members & students, $10 general admission. For more information visit http://deyoung.famsf.org.
