Fashion should not only look good, but it should also do good for the planet. For my senior thesis collection, I wanted to use functional materials with a story to tell. I knew I had found something I could use when I came across a rope donated by avid climbers seeking a second life for their gear.
Using the rope yarn as a starting point, I experimented with different colors and textures to create a cohesive collection. I carefully cut and pulled apart the strands of the rope to make a yarn that was soft to the touch but still had the strength and resilience of the original material.
