Tomorrow night, the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society will host Standing Ovations VI: San Francisco Style: an annual gala event celebrating the city’s unique contributions to the fashion industry. Each year Standing Ovations celebrates the historic achievements of those who have contributed to the city’s cultural heritage, but a highlight of this year’s event will be a fashion show presented and sponsored by the School of Fashion.
The show will feature select looks created by Fashion alumna and “Rising Star” honoree, Sara Shepherd. A 2005 Fashion Design and Textile Design alumna, Sara’s senior collection premiered at the first ever University Show during New York Fashion Week , and her namesake line launched in 2007. Additional looks from the show will include those from alumnus Antonio Luna, as well as ten graduate designer collections that will all make their debut on the San Francisco runway, previously having been shown exclusively at Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
Standing Ovations’ additional honorees this year include style icon Wilkes Bashford, historic clothing manfacturer Levi Strauss & Co. and President of the Academy of Art University, Dr. Elisa Stephens, celebrating the University’s enormous contributions to the art and design community of San Francisco.
There is still time to purchase tickets to what is sure to be a gorgeous evening of one of a kind fashion for a good cause. The gala benefits the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society: a 501(c)3 non-profit, dedicated to preserving, interpreting and presenting the rich historical heritage of San Francisco.
Join University designers, instructors and alumni, along with San Francisco’s most stylish, for an affair that will absolutely warrant a round of applause. For more information about the event, click here.
