This year at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Academy of Art University School of Fashion alumnus, Norman Ambrose, debuted his first runway show at Lincoln Center in New York. Norman seemed to be enjoying himself backstage, stress free and excited to showcase his spring 2012 collection – smiling and laughing with staff, spending time with his chicly dressed mother who came to see the show, and calmly preparing final touches.

Norman’s designs, always classic and timeless, made the crowd “ohh” and “ahh,” as glistening hand-beaded outfits made their way down the runway. The golden glass beaded bolero especially had the audience gasping with glee.

The collection started with a black and gold tailored suit and harmoniously flowed from silver and ivory floral chiffon prints into beautiful coral and turquoise separates and dresses. Each piece carried with it a hint of 1940s glamour and boldness. Norman is definitely someone to keep an eye on as he continues to design and show more of his upcoming collections.
