Andrea Torija grew up in Mexico City, Mexico and graduated from the Instituto Asuncion de Mexico. She is currently pursuing her B.F.A. in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. A former intern with Bay Area couturier Julia Panciroli, Andrea was inspired by Mexican architect Luis Barragan‘s studies of light and shadow in creating her senior collection. Her designs were influenced by Barragan’s use of form and texture, specifically the sharp angles combined with round shapes of the vases in his patios.
