Stephanie Gelot was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. She received a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and worked as a visual designer for Totes-Isotoner, and as a women’s outerwear designer for The Levy Group before pursuing a M.F.A. in Knitwear Design at the Academy. Her women’s knitwear collection represents the global nomads that many in society have become. She references classic imagery of the nomadic peoples of Europe and Asia for developing her silhouettes and the aesthetic of Middle Eastern stonework and tiles for developing her textiles. Stephanie was selected to spend a semester abroad at Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand through the Academy’s student exchange program.
