My senior thesis collection is a representation
of my identity as a Haitian. Based on Haitian Voodoo ceremonies, I wanted to shed light on something often associated with evil and darkness without being properly explained and understood. The whole collection is in white, presenting the fluidity of our souls and bodies—the bridge between the living and the dead. The white skull lace throughout the collection reminds me of my ancestors and how death always accompanies us. That same lace has cross-bone details, a nod to those who chose the sea and the guiding stars they become on the many paths that life will take me.
