The School of Fashion is thrilled to announce that the 2014 Guests of Honor for the May Graduation Fashion Show will be none other than Angela Missoni and her mother, Rosita Missoni. These key members of the acclaimed Italian fashion house are personal friends of the Executive Director of the School of Fashion, Gladys Perint Palmer, who brings you today’s formal announcement and fondest memories of her friendship with this remarkable family.

On May 8th, 2014, Angela Missoni and her mother, Rosita Missoni, will be Guests of Honour at the Academy of Art University’s Graduation Fashion Show. Rosita and her late husband Tai Missoni have visited the school twice, the first time in on September 15th 1998, as Guests of Honor. This will be Angela’s first visit.
The Missoni family is as close-knit in spirit as their beautiful zig zag patterns. They are warm, loving and gracious.
Rosita has always made a point of cooking lunch every day for her employees working in the Sumirago factory.

I have many personal memories. Here is my favourite.
Rosita and I went to the Chelsea Flower Show in London. She waited patiently for a ground-cover plant saleswoman to stop chatting to her friend.
“Yes?? Can I help you?” the woman asked, finally.
“I’d like to order this white plant, please,” Rosita replied.
“How many?”
“Maybe ten thousand…” said Rosita.
