Last week, Forbes published their annual list of the The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women and we were delighted by the number of fashion industry players who made the cut! Diane Von Furstenberg comes in at #33 – as the owner of Diane Von Furstenberg Studio, L.P. and the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, for which she oversees 427 designers on CFDA board. Angela Ahrendts, the CEO of Burberry Group, makes the list at #45, and is credited with re-invigorating the classic British brand in the age of technology.

Vogue editor in chief, Anna Wintour, moves up from last year’s post at #69 to #51, and is dubbed “the most powerful woman in fashion.” The article also touches on Wintour’s political activism, particularly her fundraising efforts for President Obama. Miuccia Prada is listed at #67, the cherry on top of an exciting year. She took her company public in the summer of 2011, and was featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibit, Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.
Gisele Bündchen is the only model who made the list, coming in at #83. Aside from her many modeling gigs, the Brazilian super has been tapped as a spokesperson for several top brands, especially in her native country, and also works as an ambassador for the United Nation’s Environmental Program. And rounding out the fashion players at #96 is Mindy Grossman, the CEO of HSN. Though it’s not exactly high fashion, HSN pulled in $3 billion in sales last year, largely thanks to their host of celebrity sellers and designers including Rachel Zoe, Badgley Mischka, and Isaac Mizrahi.
